Career Highlights:  7-Time SLTT Champion, GPTT President, Board Chairman, Table Tennis Promoter

Joe Nevius is perhaps the greatest pioneer and early promoter of table tennis in Eastern Kentucky.

He promoted table tennis through various religious and recreational institutions, introducing many players to the thought of the sport for the first time.  He won countless regional and local championships in Eastern Kentucky, with his most prominent accomplishment being a 7-time SLTT league champion, a title he held for a total of more than 5,000 days.

Nevius helped to make West Liberty a staple for table tennis in Eastern Kentucky.  During the 1970’s through the 1990’s, he promoted the sport, trained a plethora of beginners, and laid the foundation for the future of table tennis in the area.

In the early years of GPTT, Mr. Nevius used his experience and wisdom to help grow and nurture the nascent league.  Mr. Nevius was inducted into the GPTT Hall of Fame in March, 1997.  His impact on the sport and the region will never be in question---or forgotten.
